New Releases by Daved Calderwood

One of my oldest and dearest friends from Second Life made some amazing builds for me and the business before he decided it was time to take a break and move on from SL. He will be greatly missed ... already is. :(

But he left us with some great new stuff that I am finally getting around to releasing for your enjoyment. There are really too many to mention but he builds a lot like I do ... a great eye for detail but a bit prim heavy. So these amazing pieces are not for the faint of heart. :) But I am SO proud of them and can't wait to see how well they do.

My favorite piece is probably the one I am picturing here ... the Rustic Wash Basins. What a great piece! But be sure to check out the main store and get your copy of each of Daved's pieces. Trust me, it's worth it!

ARA Best Homes in SL Competition

About a month ago I received an invitation to participate in the ARA (Animal Rights Activists) Best Home in SL Competition. There were probably a few of my builds I could have entered in the contest but instead, I went with my own personal home (which I'll probably be boxing up and selling in the near future) that I had built from a refurbished barn I had seen in a magazine while waiting in my allergist's office. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised to find out I had actually won a prize at the competition this past Sunday evening, even though I wasn't chosen as one of the top ten finalists. Instead, I think I received an award that speaks to my whole purpose of building ... Most Creative Home! So I'll be posting a few pics here as a preview of the home that will soon be for sale. Who knows ... maybe I'll start a whole new rustic home line! LOL!

Freebies & Discounts!

After a lot of thinking and careful consideration, I knew it was time that I made a discount and freebie section. The economy has definately impacted Second Life and Cynful Designs and I knew I wanted to give my customers a financial break. Maybe, just maybe, I can lower prices. I'm proud of my hard work and my attention to detail, but if customers can't afford it, then how are they going to enjoy it? So for starters, we are having a freebie of the week and a half-priced item of the week. There is also a Group Members Only gift that will be updating periodically, just to say thank you. Up and coming next will be a Profile Picks Gift Giver but more information on that to come ... :)

All New Look!

I know it's been a while since I've blogged last but I've been busy creating an all-new look for the sim and save the prims for creating more fantastic Cynful Designs for you to enjoy. Be sure to stop by the main store and check it out! It's a combination of my favorite looks ... rustic, a touch of western and a hint of Zen. I even got married on the sim just this past weekend to my Master and best friend, Maluk! I can't bear to take down the wedding pavillion so it's still there for you to enjoy! (Regretfully it wasn't created by me but one of my mentors and friends, Aral Levitt from Bahia Tiki & Zen Store!)

Lots of New Releases

I guess I've been on a building spree lately ... there really are too many random things to mention seperately so I'll try to at least cover them all here. First and foremost, I've been keeping my scriptor pretty busy! We have been working the kinks out of a multi-notecard script for a messy scribery bookcase that is finally released. For now its open for your own use but my plan is to customize it for some specific notecards later. More to come on that soon ...

I've added some sitting animations on some dock specific builds with outlaws or pirates in mind (funny how those groups are like THE groups to roleplay in right now). I've also finally released my Viking Warning Tower with a working ladder to climb and a horn that blows a warning when touched.

There are so many ideas floating around in my head right now ... I can hardly get them organized enough to build! Daved and I are working on a project I'm excited about and can't wait for the scripting to be done and tell you all about it. Just keep checking back in!

All New Warriors' Barracks

My good friend Daved Calderwood came up with this concept by creating a two-story building that he wanted used as a Gorean Warriors' Barracks. It's a great build with a wonderful wrap-around 2nd story enclosed within bannisters with windows for sniping and/or lookout. Based on his original build, I went from there - creating my version of what I thought a Gorean Red Caste barracks might look like. I tried to combine what I had seen about military barracks in movies along with the whole rustic concept and still be true to John Norman's version of Gor. I was VERY pleased with the end result! Of course, there are still lots of plans for add-ons and additional extras in the works. Be sure to stop by the main store to check it out the way it was meant to be seen!

Official Move!

Well it's been a couple of weeks now but I am just getting around to posting this on our official blog -- we've moved!! :)

Finally the most basic dream I've had for this business since it was started has come true - we are now on our sim where the whole place can be the entire store instead of just one building. I wanted to be able to make it so we could display the builds as they were meant to be used on a sim. Be sure to check each building though because it is either decked out with all of its extras and available furniture that matches, or sale boxes with other related items.
